Welcome to the Ellison School literature blog. Your job will be to post at least one comment each week about what you are reading. You must include name of the book, pages you read, a summary of what has happened, and thoughts or feelings you have about the story so far. Feel free to ask questions or make predictions. Th old man in the sea

There is a poor old man that hasn't cath a fish in years. a boy tryed to help him for 48 days. But sady the boy and the man catch nothing so the boy parints made him stop helping the old man. So one day early in the moring the old man set out to catch a fish. When he was out the a bird he him catch 3 fish. Then he got the biggest fish in the sea and then the fish pull him out far in to the sea. When he was almost to shore shark came and ate the fish. He killed five sharks but the fish was all gone exept the skeliten. when he got back home and the people measred the skeliten and it was 18feet long! Then the old man went back to the house and whet to sleep.

The book Lovely Bones takes place in Pennsylvania. Susie, a 14 year old girl gets murdered while she was walking home from school by a man who lived in her neighborhood named Mr. Harvey. After a while Susie family recognized that she wasn't coming back, and detective Len Fenerman had found some of her belongings but had never found her body. As time passes Susie is in heaven now and is looking down on her family and loved ones to watch over them. She watches her little sister Lindsay grow up and fall in love with Samuel, She watches her dad and mom break apart and her mom love another man while her dad is trying to find Susie body, she watches her younger brother Buck grow up being very cloth with his father, she watches her mom move to california trying to start a new live, and finally Ray and Ruth get through school and Ruth's diary on Susie. Susie misses being on earth and can't let go of what she left on earth but eventually she feels well enough to not watch over her loved ones all the time.
Lovely Bones is one of my favorite books. Even though it was very depressing it was still fun to read.

The magiction's nephew is a book of great literature and a twist of fantasy. it takes place in a small town in England, about 1860. a little boy named digory steps outside and away from his twisted uncle andew. meanwhile a girl, polly is just beyond the fence. the to meet and that is the start of a beutiful freindship. on day, digory come over for some explration in the attic. they find a passage that leads to uncle andrew's study. the twisted uncle tricks polly into givving her a ring that sent her into another magical world. digoy, unwilling to leave his freind, comes after her. they learn that the magical world isn't that bad, untill they step into a evil witch's domain. they unwillingly take her into their world and into the empy land of narnia. aslan the lion comes out of nowhere and sings his magical song and creates narnia. digory and polly get sucked into helping the creatures of narnia. after h

i realy liked this book cause it shows how cruel school cliques realy are. in the book four very wealthy girls start a clique of thier own and the call it the pretty committe. When a new girl comes to their school she wants in but, ofcourse she is rejected by the clique just like the other girls in their school
Personally I realy liked this book.

This book is a twist on a classic tale called Peter pan. This is the second book in a series about a boy who was brought to board on a ship with his friends, where he got mixed up in the adventure of a lifetime. In the first book peter sucessfully rescued a mystical treasure from his pirate enemy, and also got the ability to fly. He now lives on a big island with his friends called the lost boys. He also never grows older. Now in the second book his old pirate enemy, and also a new one are out to steal the treasure Peter tried so hardly to keep protected. but now one of them has brought a dangerous and mystycal alliance on board. The treasure is thought to be on the island by these enemies but thet are wrong. It was taken away, but they don't know that. They are willing to do any thing it takes to get the treasure.

molly moon and the hypnotic time travel adventure

11 year old Molly Moon is a very talented girl. She know how to hypnotise people and to stop the world. She has recently been living with her mother who she was not seen since she was born. So she used to live in an orphanage, which is ware she learned her talents. She also finds her long lost dad too. the story begins with a so called gardner taking her pug, petula. Molly was very scared for her dog, so she went with a man to find her dog, who mysteriously showed up. When this man showed her ware her dog was, which was in a different time, the gardener was there and kidnaped her and petula. This man made molly eat a metal caplet which was a tracking device. Then he hypnotised molly and took them to india. After they were in india he took them back in time. They were in a royel palace. A giant man who was the majarah of Waqt. He took petula and taught her to time travel. He did this so she could go fetch him things in different times so he would give back petula. While she did these things he got the baby, 3 year old,6 year molly, and 10 year old molly to kill them all. The waqt. hates Molly Moon.

Two teenagers, Lorriane and John, got themselves into a bit of trouble when they take advantage of Mr. Pagnati, an old man. They made a fake phone call to Mr. Pignati saying they wanted to $10 for charity. He asked them to come over and recive it. So they did on afternoon after school. As the story progresses, John and Lorraine spent very much time with Mr. Pignati, or as the say The Pigman. When Mr. Pignati invites them over to his house one day, he showed them around and his and his wives collection of pigs. His wife died a couple of years ago and Mr. Pignati can't seem to let that go, he say's that she's in California with his sister. But instead, Mr. Pignati has a baboon named Bobo. He loved and cared for him, and everytime he would go to the zoo, he would buy Bobo a bag a peanuts and feed them to him. But soon, John and Lorraine felt very comforable in his house. So while Mr. Pignati was in the hospital, when he fainted at the zoo, because Bobo died from pneumonia, John and Lorraine threw a party at Mr. Pignati's house and John heard a CRACK! in the middle of the party, he hurried upstairs and Norton, a very bad kid (who is not John's friend) was throwing all the glass pig's all over! Norton punched John and then he fainted. Mr. Pignati died when he found out about the pigs. He felt that his life was offically over, John and Lorraine took everything away from him, even though he had good times with John and Lorraine.
I really liked this book, because I think it taught John and Lorraine a lesson. It taught them not to mess with someone's heart.

Child of the Owl

Child of the Owl is a novel about a 12-year old girl learning about her Chinese heritage. She is forced to leave her father who is now in the hospital due to a gambling accident. She now has to live with her uncle in San Fransisco. He lives in a big house; something Casey is not used to. When she meets her cousins, she knows she won't last there long. She is right. She gets kicked out and is sent to live with her Paw-Paw. In Chinese, that means grandmother. While there, she learns Chinese, makes a friend, learns about her deceased mother, and learns about an owl charm which is also her Chinese heritage. Then her father breaks in and steals the charm. Casey is left with the decision to either forgive her father who says he will change for her and will stop gambling, or hold the grudge and stay with Paw-Paw. With help from Paw-Paw, she decides to forgive her father.
I liked the book a lot. The think that the idea of a girl learning about her heritage through a charm and a mystical story from a grandmother she never knew was great. I give this book 5 stars.
